How it works:
Art appraisal involves a systematic process that combines research, analysis, and professional judgment to determine the value of artwork.
-
During an initial consultation between the appraiser and the owner of the artwork, the owner provides information about its history, provenance, and any relevant documentation. This is often conducted on the phone or via email at no charge.
-
The artwork is examined in person whenever possible. By closely observing and gaining familiarity with the physical characteristics of the object(s), and discussing the client’s needs, we can assess the necessity for an appraisal, or will advise about next steps for the client. A small fee is charged should we decide not to proceed with an appraisal.
-
If the artwork is deemed to be appropriate for an appraisal, a letter of agreement will be executed and signed between the owner and appraiser. A deposit is required for proceeding with the assignment.
